Klosters Music 2024 – VOM PANORAMA ZUM TRIPTYCHON

Giovanni Segantini was only 41 years old when he died on the Schafberg in the Engadin on 28 September 1899. The Alps symbolised an almost mystical place of longing for the painter. In his large-scale paintings, he focussed on the life of mountain farmers, but also created symbolist image compositions and thus became a pioneer of modern painting. Gioconda Leykauf-Segantini, the artist’s granddaughter, introduces her grandfather’s work at Atelier Bolt. Some of his paintings will be projected in their original size and prints of selected paintings can be purchased. Works by the host Christian Bolt will also be on display. Songs by Gustav Mahler will frame this very personal evening. Like Segantini, Mahler was also inspired by nature and opened the door to modernism in music.
