Ausstellungsvernissage Kathrin Severin

Kathrin Severin is showing works from two different groups at the Kulturbox in Klosters. The white objects concentrate on the form - the colour is secondary. The coloured glass sculptures, on the other hand, live from light, colour and reflection and from the geometric form, which can be combined in a variety of ways. In the summer of 2022, Kathrin Severin lived in Klosters as an artist in residence. She was out and about with her sketchbook, in the village and in nature. She also drew during the concerts of Klosters Music 2022 and 2023, creating vivid graphic documentations. Trained at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts, now ZHDK. Initially a fashion designer, illustrator and graphic designer for various media in Switzerland and abroad. Her own painting school and the organisation of painting and cultural trips were the ideal way to combine art and her day job. Kathrin Severin lived and worked in Davos for many years, where many locals and guests discovered a love of creativity and art thanks to her painting school. For Kathrin Severin, drawing takes centre stage; she defines and structures contexts. Kathrin Severin works with a wide variety of materials. The colour is often subordinate to the line - or light and colour take precedence. The three-dimensional works are created from PP ropes, wood, glass and reflections. Connections, reflections and networks are recurring themes in Kathrin Severin's work. The search for connections, the desire to understand and comprehend life and the world is central. For Kathrin Severin, forays through the world, sketching and drawing, curiously searching for and grasping everything, are becoming increasingly important. The numerous sketchbooks document her travels. They are a way of recording time, capturing moments and preserving memories.
