Some people end their bike tour there, with countless meters of ups and downs. Others visit solely for a culinary delight with a view of the idyllic landscape: the region's mountain restaurants. This summer, there are some new additions.
The Ducan is now a member of the Guild Restaurants
The Hotel Restaurant Ducan in Monstein has recently been recognized as a Guild Restaurant. The culinary arts in this charming mountain hotel have been awarded the seal of approval by the Guild of Swiss Gastronomers. The restaurant impresses with its consistent quality standards, attentive service, and traditional as well as Asian cuisine, conjured up by Swiss head chef Marc Torche. The award is a great honor for restaurateur Benjamin Schibli, who has run the Ducan for 13 years.
A new era for the Veltlinerstübli
There is also news about the second restaurant in Monstein: After four generations of ownership by the Flury family, the traditional Veltlinerstübli has changed hands and is restructuring. The 300-year-old, rustic wooden house in the village center was taken over by Monstein entrepreneur Thomas Failer. The menu has been slightly revised, and the Stübli is now open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The familiar quality, cozy atmosphere, and warm service remain, as does the homemade blueberry cake on the menu. The culinary heart of the region lives on – to the great delight of all who appreciate something special.
Two local tenants run the Dürrboden mountain inn
On Ascension weekend, the two new tenants, sisters Claudia Canziani and Corina Sauter, opened the doors of the Dürrboden mountain inn. This mountain inn in the remotest part of the Dischma Valley invites you to linger on the sun terrace. The Davos tenants and their local team look after their guests with homemade specialties made from regional products. Since the last bus from Dürrboden back to Davos leaves at 5 p.m., the inn is only open to guests staying overnight—in a double room, dormitory, or cozy straw hut. Incidentally, camping is still prohibited in the mountain inn's parking lot.
