Dwarf Trail in Klosters: Hiking in the Fairytale Forest

In summer 2024, Klosters renovated and modernized the dwarf path in the pine forest above "Aeuja". The themed path is ideal for families and for anyone who loves forest walks. Each of the ten stations tells a fairy tale. But that's not all: play elements such as a giant marble run turn the path into a forest adventure.

Anyone who walks the 2.8-kilometer-long dwarf path will quickly notice that roots, forest floor, ferns, clearings and moss-covered stones are the perfect backdrop for stories about dwarf Purzel and his friends. The forest becomes a fairy tale book that comes to life. And a huge adventure playground: with a wooden dwarf tower and large slide, a marble run, a "dwarf sports field" with balance elements, pine cone throwing and a station where children can touch and guess objects.

This is how the Dwarf Trail was created

The Dwarf Trail was created over 20 years ago. It goes back to the initiative of Julia Brosi and Verena Schreier from Klosters. Together they had the idea of offering children a place where they could give free rein to their imagination and creativity in the midst of nature. What volunteers from Klosters lovingly created by hand and maintained over the years was modernized by the municipality in 2024. This means that the Dwarf Trail in Klosters joins a list of themed trails that are popular with guests and locals in Davos Klosters.

Ten stations briefly presented

  • 01

    The Dwarf World of Klosters

    Zwergenweg Klosters

The name of the trail gives it away: dwarves play the main role here. Everything revolves around Purzel and his adventures. But that's not all: find out more about the individual stations and the adventure playground in the forest.

  • 02

    The Journey of Discovery

    Zwergenweg Klosters

Did you know? Our sense of sight provides 80 percent of all information about our environment. This makes it even more difficult to find objects by touch. This game station requires your sense of touch.

  • 03

    On the Koboldplatz

    Zwergenweg Klosters

The station at Goblin Square tells the story of the cheeky goblin Katt and an ant as the heroine. At the same time, the forest becomes a playground: get creative and build a dwarf house out of wood.

  • 04

    On the Dwarf Sports Field

    Zwergenweg Klosters

A giant marble run that winds its way through the forest for several meters is particularly popular with children. Time flies when playing, but don't forget: there are still a few stations to come.

  • 05

    On the Schatzplatz

    Zwergenweg Klosters

Gold diggers wanted: The treasure trove is a good place to let your imagination run wild. Is there perhaps a hidden dwarf treasure in the sandpit?

  • 06

The Dance on the Fairy Meadow

    Zwergenweg Klosters

The forest above Klosters has a fairytale feel to it. What creatures live here? Fairies, of course. Here you can dance with fairies and dwarf Purzel across the fairy meadow and make ring nuts dance on the metal poles.

  • 07

At the Töbelibach with the Bach-Kobolds

    Zwergenweg Klosters

On a midsummer day, the trees provide shade and the stream is pleasantly cool. Just a few meters away is the dwarf tower with a large slide. The hike with its play stations is also ideal in autumn, when there is already snow at higher altitudes.

  • 08

Bellavista: View of the cow pasture

    Zwergenweg Klosters

At the "Bellavista" there is a telescope with a view of a cow pasture. Because a cow is not feeling well, dwarf Purzel sets out to help: she had eaten a discarded plastic cup. The post draws attention to how waste can harm cows and animals in the forest.

  • 09

The Fern Hill and the Memory Game

Familie beim Wandern in Davos Klosters

Do you remember? Do you still remember the stories along the way? Test your knowledge and answer the quiz questions at this station. Do you remember who chased goblin Katt out of the fox cave?

  • 10

Dwarf village and the industrious dwarves

    Zwergenweg Klosters

A suspension bridge leads to the last stop: the dwarf village with a small wooden hut. There are toys and crayons for painting. The last story on the trail is about the hard-working dwarves who secretly work on a farm.
