Stepping into the ice-cold water and overcoming your inner demons – that's precisely what makes ice bathing so appealing. Add to that the exhilarating feeling and deep relaxation afterward. The Davos lido offers the perfect setting.
There's this tiny moment, shortly after diving into the icy water: A feeling of quiet panic spreads throughout your body – just get away from this cold! In this moment, conscious breathing comes into play, a calming look from instructor Markus Blum, and courage! And with every breath, the fear fades. The cold is still there, but you've come to terms with it.
AdventureHealth's beginner courses with Markus Blum begin in the cozy rooms of the sailing club at the Davos lido. Here, participants learn special breathing techniques and practice exercises that will later help them relax in the cold water and are the key to successful ice bathing. On the shore of Lake Davos, there's an illuminated pool where participants enter in pairs. Ice bathing is also possible directly in the lake until the beginning of January.
Experienced ice bathers can also use the pool at the Davos lido individually and pay a small fee for maintenance using a Twint code. For private groups, AdventureHealth also offers longer courses where you travel together to a quiet spot in nature and swim in an ice hole.
As part of the winter guest program, beginner courses are held every Tuesday from 7 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. AdventureHealth is offering a new cold-weather hike with a breathing workshop this winter. Like ice bathing, the course begins with breathing exercises, followed by a brisk walk in light clothing. It takes place on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the meeting point is also the Davos lido.
