Spengler Cup Davos

The 97th Spengler Cup promises thrilling matches, great emotions, and a unique atmosphere in Davos. Get to know the six teams competing for the coveted title this year:

• HC Davos: HCD's goal is clear: their 17th title! They aim to become the sole record holders once again – a position they currently share with Team Canada.
• US Collegiate Selection: For the first time in the 102-year history of the Spengler Cup, a team of selected college hockey players will participate. They represent NCAA Division I Hockey, the highest college league in the USA.
• IFK Helsinki: The traditional club from the Finnish capital is coming to Davos for the fifth time. IFK Helsinki is one of the oldest active ice hockey clubs in Europe and brings with it numerous promising young talents. Olli Jokinen has been the coach since this season.
• HC Sparta Prague: Sparta Prague, one of the best-known and most successful ice hockey clubs in the Czech Republic, has been confirmed for this year's tournament. This is their eleventh participation in the Spengler Cup.
• HC Fribourg-Gottéron: The winners of the last Spengler Cup aim to defend their title. A big name will return to Davos behind the Gottéron bench in the form of coach Roger Rönnberg. He participated in the Spengler Cup with Frölunda in 2023 and was enthusiastic about the tournament.
• Team Canada: Will the Canadians make it to the final this time? Their last title win dates back to 2019 – and the usually successful North Americans have also missed the finals for the past three years. Traditionally, Team Canada will only announce their roster at the very last minute.
