Energy City Davos

In 2001, Davos was the first municipality in the canton of Graubünden to be officially awarded the title of Energy City by the Federal Office of Energy and the “Label Energy City” association.

As an energy city, Davos is committed to a sustainable and results-oriented energy policy. The energy city is introducing measures to improve the carbon footprint and strengthen climate protection. The mission statement of the municipality of Davos aims to achieve energy self-sufficiency by 2036. The "MountEnergy - Davos Energy Model" project emerged from the mission statement process and aims to pave the way for this development.

The Davos Congress Center was the first congress center in Switzerland to be certified by Myclimate. This means that the center has internationally recognized environmental standards. The solar system on the roof of the Davos Congress Center demonstrates sustainability in action and underlines Hanwha's commitment as a global leader in solar energy in efforts to reduce carbon emissions and raise awareness of the value of renewable energy. Such awards are evidence of the important role the region plays in the fields of energy and the environment. Many companies are making the Davos Klosters region a European powerhouse in this future industry. We would also like to draw your attention to the numerous environmental efforts made by Davos hotels.

The Swiss rarely mention how sustainable they are: two thirds of Swiss energy is generated from renewable sources, primarily hydropower. We are also number one in consistent recycling (96% glass, 90% aluminum, 77% paper, 76% PET) and have exemplary waste disposal, strict emissions regulations, carefully regulated landscape planning and strict requirements for construction projects. Incidentally, countless environmentally conscious activities are possible, such as e-bike tours, helping with landscape projects, etc.

Possible tours of the company and speakers on request.
