Songbird: Steiner & Madlaina

For over 10 years, they have carried their signature multi-part vocals and catchy sound somewhere between folk and indie rock.
It comes as no surprise, then, that the two Zurich high school friends count over 100,000 monthly listeners on the streaming platform Spotify - more than Baschi, Dodo, or Pegasus. Two-thirds of STEINER & MADLAINA’s listeners live in Germany, with only one-third in Switzerland. The newspaper Blick wryly sums it up: “STEINER & MADLAINA are better known in Germany than in Switzerland.” A disadvantage? Quite the opposite - a second foothold. Madlaina learned that from her brother FABER and her father PIPPO POLINA.
Most recently, they deliberately stripped things back with their “Nah Dran” tour-performing as a duo, reduced, and very close to the audience. Raw, direct, and honest.
Now comes the next step: with their new album in tow, STEINER & MADLAINA reveal a new artistic side. The songs are bolder, more layered -and for the first time live, supported by a string ensemble.
A new sound, a new setting -and yet unmistakably themselves.
