Paris in May 1968: A nine-year-old boy is looking forward to spending a few days with his grandparents, who live in a flat with two fun-loving uncles - a visual artist and a young intellectual - and his extravagant great-grandmother from Odessa. While the legendary student protests rage outside and his parents are on the barricades, he and his family experience an unusual time. The country is upside down and the adults begin to come to terms with their own past. When another illustrious guest seeks refuge in his grandparents' flat, his presence brings new insights and raises unexpected questions about the family history.
