Hundert Jahre Thomas Manns Der Zauberberg (1924 - 2024)

Thomas Mann's "The Magic Mountain" was published exactly one hundred years ago. It has now become what it always was - a novel of the century. . Following on from the Davos Literature Days held from 1994 to 2012, interested parties and enthusiasts will come together in Davos from 5 to 11 August 2024 to take a fresh look at the "Magic Mountain". Up there, pre-war European society held a rendezvous in the sanatoriums until the First World War swept away the sophisticated life of the sick. Once again, literary scholars meet for lectures and discussions. They look to Davos, and from there to Europe. They look back and forward. They look at contemporary influences and new sources. They look at Thomas Mann's complete works and at the "Magic Mountain" adaptations in film and music. Just as many an evening in the novel belonged to music, the same is to be the case during this week. This is because the Davos Festival Young artists in concert (www.davosfestival.ch) is taking place at the same time and will be offering a variety of concerts. . Unless otherwise stated, the literature conference will take place at Kulturplatz Davos, Promenade 58c, 7270 Davos Platz. The concerts of the Davos Festival will take place in the Davos Congress Centre.
