The "Dia de Muertos", the Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday on which friends and relatives come together to commemorate the beloved deceased, offering them sugar skulls and flowers to support their spiritual journey. On this day of all days, Miguel inadvertently sets off an incredible chain reaction that actually transports him across to the realm of the dead, enabling him to finally unravel a secret of his family that is many centuries old. Miguel meets extremely dead and at the same time quite alive contemporaries and experiences the unbelievable, the surprising and the unimaginable, which in the end culminates in a family reunion of a not only somewhat but quite different kind. Because actually, remembering the dead is about celebrating life.
