Trailrunning in Davos Klosters_c-Dan_Patitucci

Davos Klosters offers ideal conditions for all trail running enthusiasts. Challenging mountain trails, altitude training in the invigorating alpine climate, and two trail running events make this destination the meeting point for trail runners and anyone who wants to experience top-level sport up close this summer.

The region is one of Switzerland's most renowned trail running destinations. The diverse routes and ideal training conditions provide the perfect backdrop for the Davos X-Trails and the Madrisa Trail Klosters. Whether you're competing yourself or cheering on the athletes along the course, both events promise exciting races amidst the mountains.

Davos X-Trails: July 24–25
What began as the Swiss Alpine Marathon has evolved into the multifaceted trail running festival known as Davos X-Trails. For the fifth time, runners from Switzerland and abroad will gather in Davos to compete on challenging alpine courses.

  • Diamond: 68 km / 3309 m elevation gain (also possible as a 3-person team)
  • Gold: 43 km / 1711 m elevation gain
  • Silver: 24 km / 870 m elevation gain
  • Bronze: 9 km / 237 m elevation gain

The trail running weekend kicks off with the Kids Race on Friday afternoon. Children and teenagers will gain their first trail running experience on age-appropriate courses with playful obstacles and experience a real competitive atmosphere.

New this year, the 1K Vertical will take place for the first time on Friday evening. Participants will climb 1080 meters in elevation over 6.9 kilometers from the Davos Sports Centre to the summit of the Jakobshorn. Thanks to the easily visible course, spectators can follow the race from several points and cheer on the athletes. More info & registration

Madrisa Trail Klosters: August 14–15
The Madrisa Trail Klosters presented by LOWA leads along diverse mountain paths and scenic high-altitude trails around Klosters-Madrisa. With approximately 90% trail running on all routes and up to 4,020 meters of elevation gain, the event is aimed at trail runners who seek terrain off the beaten track.

  • T54: 54 km / 4,020 m elevation gain
  • T33: 33 km / 2,200 m elevation gain
  • T24: 24 km / 1,247 m elevation gain
  • T11: 11 km / 450 m elevation gain

The start and finish are located in the heart of Klosters train station square, where the event area with its expo and refreshment stands invites participants to linger. New for 2026 is a Kids Race, where children can get their first taste of competition. The Madrisa Trail has established itself as a fixture of the trail running season in recent years and is experiencing steadily increasing numbers of participants. More info & registration!
