After a comfortable ascent of the mountain, the slopes fall away gently. Skiing as it was in years gone by, whilst experiencing nature. Thanks to this cultivated charm, Schatzalp/Strela is the first 'slowed down' skiing region of Europe. The Schatzalp - at an altitude of 300 metres above Davos - is the starting point of the classic toboggan run to Davos Platz, about which even Thomas Mann wrote in his novel "The Magic Mountain."
The wide, well-prepared toboggan run is 2.8 km long and takes in 18 bends through the Schatzalp magic forest on its descent down to Davos Platz. This toboggan run is also ideal for children and beginners.
Relaxing, enjoying nature and having fun is again possible just as it was in the past on the Schatzalp/Strela. The first "'slowed down'" skiing area in Europe, on Davos' sunniest side, is ideally suited for this: with gently sloping runs, traditional drag-lifts and reached in only four minutes from Davos Platz by a comfortable funicular railway.
A hit for non-skiers and for anyone who enjoys being out in the fresh air. Explore the beauty of the Davos landscape on foot on well-prepared winter hiking trails. Enjoy and admire the wonder of your white surroundings and hear the crackling of your shoes in the glistening snow. Take either the Sonnenweg or the Waterfall circular route , and in around an hour, via the Strelaalp, you will be back at the Schatzalp.
