At an altitude of 2000 m above sea level a whole host of small and large animals (pigs, chickens,dwarf goats, domestic goats and, a recent addition, alpacas) are waiting for you to come and stroke them above the Rinerhorn mountain restaurant. The zoo is open from the end of June to the end of September weather-permitting. Admission is free. There is also a large children's playground beside the Jatzmeder mountain restaurant. Two large sandpits with a range of different play equipment, a bouncy castle, a slackline and now also a trampoline and a large climbing frame and play tower are a guarantee for hours of fun and exercise.
Get on and off you go. A unique opportunity not to have to use your feet to get back to the valley Take the plunge and whiz down on a kick bike. The 4.5 km long thrill-filled run leads from the Rinerhorn top station to the bottom station in Glaris.
Secluded picnic spots: Not every BBQ has to include a long hike - you will find several easily accessible and well-equipped BBQs and picnic spots on our mountains. Äbirügg, Rinerhorn picnic spot: approx. 1/2 hour walk from the Jatzmeder/Rinerhorn top station along hiking trail no. 70 which is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Firewood is provided and there are also wooden tables and benches.
The Rinerhorn offers mountain bikers thrilling and extensive bike tours for all degrees of difficulty. After a pleasant descent, savour the magical panoramic views over the mountains with a reviving drink in one of our mountain restaurants or on the sun terraces. Please note: the Rinerhorn gondola only carries mountain bikers with bikes and not downhillers. Bike maps are available free from all bottom stations. An additional CHF 5.- per trip or CHF 10.- per day is charged for the transport of your bike.
