When the Iceland horses run across the ice in Davos

At the "Fire & Ice" event on February 21st, Icelandic horse riders will compete in Davos. The races will be held in tölt, the special gait of Icelandic horses. A spectacle – not just for horse lovers!
The "Ice Dream Davos" will transform into a meeting place for Icelandic horse enthusiasts on Saturday, February 21, 2026: Around 50 horse-and-rider pairs from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and France will travel to Davos for the "Tölt Fire & Ice Davos" tournament. This spectacular event, now in its seventh year, attracts approximately 1,500 spectators.
The Icelandic horses will compete in the tölt, a special four-beat gait. Special ice nails and studs on the horseshoes act like spikes, providing traction as the horses move across the ice. A total of six events are on the program.
