Sculpture «David» unveiled

An extraordinary art project is making Klosters a special destination this summer: Until the end of October, a monumental reproduction of Michelangelo's famous "David" can be seen in the center of Klosters. The impressive sculpture brings Renaissance art to the Grisons mountains.
The sculpture, standing over 5.16 meters tall and weighing more than five tons, is made of genuine Statuario marble from Carrara – the same material and even the same quarry from which Michelangelo created his world-famous "David." The project was initiated by Klosters-based artist Christian Bolt, who places the Renaissance icon in a new alpine context.
Unveiling on July 2nd at 2 pm
The sculpture will be unveiled on July 2nd at 2 pm in the center of Klosters (Christlisch) and will remain on public display until the end of October 2026. The unveiling is open to the public and will include speeches by Klosters Mayor Christian Kindschi and the President of the Council of States, Stefan Engler. The statue offers a unique opportunity to experience one of the world's most famous works of art against an impressive mountain backdrop – free of charge and outdoors.
Dominik Heeb, head of tourism in Klosters, is also enthusiastic: "The fact that one of the most famous sculptures of the Renaissance can be seen in Klosters all summer long is exceptional. It underlines the importance of Klosters as a place for art, culture and inspiring encounters."
