Mountain biking: Sina Frei triumphs in Lake Placid

The Destination Davos Klosters bike ambassador shows off her good autumn form in the USA. She celebrates her first World Cup victory in the short track at the second-last stop of the season.

Thanks to a successful attack on the last lap, Sina Frei came out on top three seconds ahead of Sweden's Jenny Rissveds and four seconds ahead of Great Britain's Evie Richards. Frei had already racked up victory after victory in the junior category. She has also been a front runner in the elite for several years, but has so far failed to make the final breakthrough to the top of the world rankings. Her best results in the current World Cup season, which has been difficult for her, were 6th place in the short tracks in Mairiporã and Val di Sole. ‘I am very, very happy. This victory is for Muriel Furrer,’ said Frei in an initial reaction. The young rider Furrer died on Saturday after a serious crash at the Road World Championships in Zurich.

Successful bike ambassador
Sina Frei is a Swiss professional mountain biker. She has been riding at elite level since 2019 and celebrated great success very early on in her young career in 2021: she won silver at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo and bronze at the European Championships in Poland last year. Sina Frei has been an ambassador for the destination Davos Klosters since the beginning of June 2021. She spends part of her pre-season preparation on the single trails of Davos Klosters and couldn't imagine a better training base.
