Mountain biking: Sina Frei wins European Championship gold

[Translate to English:] Sina Frei gewinnt

The Destination Davos Klosters bike ambassador once again proved her impressive late-season form by securing the title at the European Gravel Championships in Asiago, Italy.

The 27-year-old mountain bike specialist beat Italians Silvia Persico and Alice Maria Arzuffi by one and a half minutes, earning the gold medal. This is not Frei's first medal in a major gravel event: she had already won silver at the 2022 World Championships. With six podium finishes in her last six races, the Zurich native was able to conclude what began as a challenging season on a high note. After making her podium debut in the cross-country race at the end of September in Lake Placid (2nd place), the Zurich rider also finished in the top three in Monte-Sainte-Anne, Canada. And that’s not all: our bike ambassador went on to win two consecutive short track races at the World Cup final at the same venue.

What is a gravel race?
Gravel races combine the long distances of road racing with the technical demands of mountain biking. Taking place on varied terrain and away from traffic, these races offer a mix of endurance and adrenaline. Thanks to improved bikes, adventurous routes, mass starts, and the opportunity for amateurs to compete directly with professionals, gravel riding is becoming increasingly popular.

She completes much of her pre-season preparation on the single trails in Davos Klosters, which she values as an ideal training base.
