Extended renovation work on the Jakobshorn

The complete renovation of the second section of the Jakobshorn is on track. Now further work is being carried out at the top and bottom stations. The second section will therefore remain closed for the remainder of the summer season.

This summer, the second section of the Jakobshorn from Jschalp up to Jakobshorn will be completely renovated. The work is running at full speed and is on track. Davos Klosters Bergbahnen (DKB) has now decided to carry out additional work on the mountain and valley station of the second section this summer. By the start of the winter season, they will have extended the waiting areas and completely redesigned the railway station signage. They are also structurally implementing the requirements of the Disability Equality Act and fire protection. But that's not all: the building shell of the Jakobshorn mountain station is also being completely renovated. The panorama restaurant will be given a new, large glass front and the southern façade will be supplemented with a new photovoltaic system. This will increase the investment volume from the original five to eight million Swiss francs.

New infrastructure ready for the coming winter season
This additional construction work, however, requires more time. In order to carry out this work cleanly, efficiently and on time, and to guarantee the safety of guests and workers, the second section of the Jakobshorn cable car will therefore remain closed for the remainder of the 2022 summer season. The mountain railways regret that the second section will not be available this summer. However, they are convinced that it makes sense to carry out the necessary work in one summer and to use synergies so that the tourist infrastructure is ready for the winter season 2022/23 - and the summer operation 2023 takes place without a construction site.

First section remains in operation as usual
The first section of the Jakobshorn cable car will continue to operate as usual until 23 October 2022. In addition, the mountain railways Parsenn Klosters, Parsenn Davos, Madrisa, Rinerhorn and Schatzalp will also be open as usual for guests and locals in the Davos Klosters destination.
