Andres Ambühl becomes the league's record player

Andres Ambühl played his 1270th league game at the Davos ice stadium on Thursday - a record. And he's not the only one: the Davos native has played the most international games for the Swiss national ice hockey team and is the national team's record scorer.

The captain of HC Davos made Swiss ice hockey history on Thursday. Andres Ambühl played his 1270th championship game in the top Swiss ice hockey league at home against SC Bern. The HCD legend, who everyone calls ‘Büeli’, broke the existing record held by Beat ‘Bidu’ Gerber.

Ambühl is honoured
According to the National League's official figures, Gerber has played 1269 championship games. Ambühl had already equalled this figure against the ZSC Lions. Before he laced up his skates once again for the record game, Hockey Club Davos and the National League honoured Andres Ambühl.
