Extrawurst

At a tennis club somewhere in rural Germany, the annual summer party is coming up. At the members' meeting, strictly chaired by Heribert, the preparations are discussed – purely a formality, really. Until Melanie suggests organising a second barbecue: out of consideration for her tennis partner Erol, the only Muslim member of the club. The well-intentioned idea triggers unexpected unrest and leads to a turbulent exchange of blows, in which atheists and believers, Germans and Turks, socialists and hardliners clash head-on, sentence by sentence. Soon it becomes clear to everyone that this is about much more than just sausages. Based on the hugely successful play of the same name, ‘Extrawurst’ takes a humorous look at social prejudices and offers a hearty mix of intelligent social criticism and top-notch entertainment.
