On the way with the ‘crocodile’ or from the glacier ice to Gelato al limone: A train ride is more exciting than you first think. And with the Swiss Travel Pass you get the right ticket.
This summer the cult crocodile locomotive will once again be making two daily pilgrimages from 11 May to 27 October in nostalgic wooden wagons and open-air observation cars from Davos Platz along the wildly romantic train gorge to Filisur. One of the highlights is the trip over the 210-metre-long Wiesner Viaduct - at 88.9 metres the highest bridge on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). The 40-minute adventure trip with the Davos Klosters Card is free of charge.
From glacier ice to Gelato al limone
If you have more time, a day trip with the Bernina Express is worthwhile. The route leads through 55 tunnels, over 196 bridges and overcomes gradients of up to 70 per mille. The roof of the RhB, the Ospizio Bernina, towers 2,253 metres above sea level. Since 2008, the route from Thusis to Tirano has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And best of all: from 11 May 2019, the Bernina Express will be running from Landquart to Tirano. You can now start this spectacular day trip from Klosters Platz station. For Davos guests, the direct connection from Davos Platz to Tirano will remain.
Journey to and from Davos has never been easier
