Podcasting stands for producing and publishing media files which are available on the internet. Hence, an individual Podcast is actually a series of media files (episodes), which can be downloaded automatically.
Thanks to Podcasting you can view your favourite program whenever and wherever you want, and as often as you like.
Generally, Podcasts are free of charge. New episodes are published on a regular basis.
You can subscribe to selected programs with special Podcasting-Clients (Podcatcher). The Podcasting client downloads the episodes automatically and then stores it p. e. on a portable player.
The word "Podcasting" is a mix of the terms "broadcasting" and the widely spread Apple "iPod".
You need a software to download and manage the Podcasts, like p.e. iTunes by Apple (available for free for Windows and Mac), a computer (Windows or Mac), a Video-Podcastplayer (p.e. an iPod or the iPhone by Apple).
You can also view the Podcast without a mobile Player. It can be viewed directly on the computer.
If you are using iTunes, click on the link "Podcast". The Download starts automatically and will be saved in iTunes under Podcasts.
If you are using a different Podcatcher, copy the subscription link into the program. Then start the download for the current episode of the program. After the download procedure is finished, the file will be available on your computer.
