A Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund is investing 155 million francs in the construction of the five-star Hotel Stilli Park. The oval-shaped luxury hotel with 216 rooms and suites is to be completed by November 2013. The new flagship on the Davos hotel scene will be under the management of the InterContinental Hotels Group.
The first cut in the soil for the new InterContinental Davos Resort & Spa will be made in April 2011. The developer is the Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund Hospitality, which has acquired the project from Stilli Park AG and invested around 155 million francs in the construction of the luxury hotel and 38 private apartments situated before it. At a media conference, the developer and operator reported that following completion in November 2013, Stilli Park AG will lease the hotel for 20 years and run it as a five-star establishment in cooperation with the InterContinental hotel chain.
World Economic Forum founder satisfied
The new hotel is intended to accommodate not only holiday guests but also business people and congress participants. In addition to the lobby, the lower floor will house two restaurants, two bars, a spa zone and a conference hall. The top floor will be reserved for an exclusive Skylounge with the floors in between holding some 190 rooms and 20 suites. "The new hotel will reinforce the position of Davos as the leading congress and tourism destination in the Alps," says Reto Branschi, CEO of Destination Davos Klosters. Prof. Dr. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, also signalled his satisfaction: "We are very pleased that another major hotel project is to be realized in Davos."
Eye-catching architecture and sustainable construction methods
The 40-metre-high hotel, with its oval shape and metal external cladding will be extremely eye-catching. At the press conference, representatives of Credit Suisse declared that in addition to meeting the highest demands in terms of quality of planning, execution and operation, special attention is also being paid to sustainability. The hotel will be heated up to 90% by renewable energy and the building materials used will as far as possible stem from local and regional sources.
