Schatzalp Aussenansicht 9834Winter
On the Schatzalp, where readers of Thomas Mann's best-seller imagine the 'magic mountain' to have been located, the atmosphere, the pace of life and attitude to life amidst the Art Nouveau architecture is as it was some 100 years ago.
Schatzalp Winter
On the sunniest side of Davos: The Schatzalp with the time-honoured hotel that was built over a century ago as a luxury sanatorium for patients suffering from lung disease.
Schatzalp Winter Nacht
Night-time Davos with the illuminated cable car to the Schatzalp. Far right: Night-skiing on the Parsenn.

Those seeking the slower pace of stylish traditional winter sports will find it on the 'magic mountain' high above Davos. Skiers are handed their t-bar personally here against a background of traditional Swiss music. After a comfortable ascent of the mountain, the slopes fall away gently. Skiing as it was in years gone by, whilst experiencing nature. Thanks to this cultivated charm, Schatzalp/Strela is the first 'slowed down' skiing region of Europe.

    Tobogganing - by night too

The Schatzalp - at an altitude of 300 metres above Davos - is the starting point of the classic toboggan run to Davos Platz, about which even Thomas Mann wrote in his novel "The Magic Mountain." The wide, well-prepared toboggan run is 2.8 km long and takes in 18 bends through the Schatzalp magic forest on its descent down to Davos Platz. This toboggan run is also ideal for children and beginners.
